Member Communities

Geography plays a key factor in whether you can join HFCU.

Check our field of membership maps to see if you're eligible for membership

Unlike banks, credit unions are - by law - member-based organizations. Often, membership eligibility depends on where you live, work, worship or attend school. That's the case at Houston Federal Credit Union. If you meet any of the criteria below, you can become a member by opening one of our Regular Savings accounts.

  • Live in the City of Houston (Houston, Texas address)
  • Work in the City of Houston (Houston, Texas address)
  • Worship in the City of Houston (Houston, Texas address)
  • Attend school in the City of Houston (Houston, Texas address)
  • If you do not live, work, worship, or attend school in the City of Houston but have an immediate family member who does, you also qualify for membership. (Family member must have a Houston, Texas address)
  • Live in the Belknap, Brookside, and Highlands communities in Sugar Land
  • For Rosenberg-Richmond-Sienna-Thompsons-Arcola and 249 communities, you must live, work, worship, or attend school within the shaded areas on the map below or have a family member in those areas who qualifies for membership.
  • Live, work (or regularly conduct business), worship, or attend school in the following prescribed underserved community consisting of 120 census tracts in Anderson, Greenville, Laurens, and Pickens counties in South Carolina.
