What types of checks can be deposited through Remote Deposit Anywhere?
All original first party U.S. financial institution checks can be processed through Remote Deposit Anywhere. We are unable to process travelers checks, insurance checks, money orders, foreign items, substitute/previously deposited checks, stale dated checks and third party checks.
Will I be notified when my deposit has been processed?
You will receive an on-screen notification that your transaction has been completed. If there was something wrong with the quality of the check pictures, you will receive an on-screen notification that your transaction was rejected. If it was rejected, you will need to retake the pictures of the front and back of the check and re-deposit it. It is best to take the pictures of the check on a dark background – they will reject on white or light backgrounds.
If my deposit does not post to my account, how will I know if the deposit was rejected?
If there is something wrong with the transaction, but you received an on-screen message that the transaction was accepted, HFCU will send an email notification letting you know why the transaction rejected or how it was corrected. The email notification will be sent to the email address we have on file, so it is important to make sure that we have your current email address. An example of an accepted transaction that is then rejected or corrected could be that the check amount you entered does not match the amount on the actual check.
Should I retain my original check?
After you receive confirmation that HFCU has received your deposit and you have reconciled your account, securely store the original check for 60 days. At 60 days, you should destroy the check, or if you intend to keep the deposit longer for your records, mark it as VOID.
Any tips for taking good check photos?
Taking high quality photos of the check is the best way to make Remote Deposit Anywhere quick and easy. Here are some hints to keep in mind:
- Ensure good lighting.
- Use a dark background for best results.
- Ensure the check is flat and the entire check is visible inside the frame.
- The check may look blurry on your phone, but if you have followed the tips above, your deposit should easily go through if you are within the deposit and transaction limits.
