Protecting your debit and credit cards wherever you travel
You've done plenty of research and traveling to know card fraud can occur anywhere in the world and certain locations carry higher risk than others. It's a topic we take seriously, which is why we automatically block all foreign transactions for Houston Federal Credit Union members who don't live outside the United States.
So, when you have international travel plans, please call us at (281) 243-0500 or call us toll-free at 1-(866) 687-4328. Let us know where you're going, and we'll code your account to temporarily allow foreign transactions.
Meanwhile, keep in mind the built-in security features on your HFCU debit and credit cards:
- When you make a purchase using a payment terminal, EMV chip technology fights fraud by generating a one-time security code specific to that transaction. The code can't be reused and your account information can't be seen by merchants.
- Our card fraud prevention service constantly monitors activity and alerts you through email and text when something looks suspicious.
